Polo America - Colorful World of Polo

Click here to view the Statues of the Colorful World of Polo

The Colorful World of Polo is a unique art exhibition that extends far beyond the art community. It is an awareness promotion for the sport of polo and its return to the Olympics. The icing on the cake is that it is a fund-raiser for the Federation of International Polo Olympic Fund and the American International Polo Foundation.

Polo America has produced twenty-five life-size fiberglass polo players that have been painted by renown artists from around the world. Each artist was invited to paint or artistically transform the polo player model anyway they wished, while keeping the structural integrity of the form intact. This exhibition is similar to the Cows in New York.

All twenty-five "Colorful World of Polo" statues are unique and different. They range from a decoupage statue in dollar bills to Chukker Khan a version of Ghengis Khan to a statue covered with the flags of every country that play polo to a New York City Fireman.

The artists include: Paige De Ponte, Helmut Koller, Jack Barry, Alejandro Moy, Boguslaw Lystyk, Mona Snell, Beverly Zimmer, Faye Ernest, Wendy Everett, Phyllis Rosen, Nancy Kleck, Nancy Alcott, Bruce Roberts, Daniel Gluibizzi, Phillip Corley, Pilar Wayne Upchurch, Betsy Hill, Ross Watkins, Rise Delmar Ochsner , Joe Tracy, Sue Sally Hale, Heide Meredino, Lisa Trosin, John Coles, and Katrina Poer.

The U.S. exhibition will take place in New York and Las Vegas. Promoting its international scope, its first stop is a natural -- John F. Kennedy Airport's new International Air Terminal. Polo player and friend of polo, Phill Karber, graciously arranged for Polo America to showcase the "Colorful World of Polo" at JFK IAT Terminal 4 this summer from August 1st through September 30th. This is an exciting opportunity to position Polo at New York's premier air terminal before one million international travelers at a time when New York is bidding for the 2012 Summer Olympics. An enthused Phill Karber, Chairman, JFK IAT, LLC, stated, "I am thrilled that three of my personal passions are coming together in this way." The media interest is expected to be strong -- a response of over 50 million impressions is projected.

Starting August 1st interested parties will be able to purchase certain statues online at poloamerica.com or by auction on Saturday evening October 26th at the Ford Trucks Polo America Expo in Las Vegas. The proceeds from the sales will be divided into four equal parts. The first two parts are for charity: 25% to Federation of International Polo Olympic Fund, 25% to American International Polo Federation (to support USA team to the 2004 World Championship), 25% to the artist, and 25% for Polo America for producing the event.
